Camping le Ruisseau is a well equipped, top quality family run site. Situated in the Basque country and close to the sea, the majestic peaks of the Pyrenees rise in the distance. The pitches here are set in shady oak land and the site boasts its own lake, which is ideal for a quiet spot of carp fishing. The fantastic pool complex incorporates waterslides, a jacuzzi, sauna and an expansive sun terrace. Sports opportunities are plentiful take to the tennis courts or the gymnasium, while young children will love the excellent play area and trampolines. In the evenings, entertainment is laid on during the height of the summer in the popular lively bar and on the terrace. The site lies close to a motorway but traffic noise is minimal.
Le Ruisseau at Biarritz, Gascony
Beside a small lake, this family-run park is just four miles from the elegant town of Biarritz. The Pyrenees form a magnificent backdrop to this park, which has terraced hillside pitches set amongst oak trees. Set in beautiful woodland with fabulous views of the Dordogne countryside, St Avit Loisirs is one of the premier parks in the region and holds 5 red tents from the Michelin guide. The buildings are of beautiful honey-coloured stone where you'll find a shop, bar with a large terrace overlooking the pool and a restaurant serving local specialities. The modern facilities include a swimming pool complex, tropical-style indoor pool, crazy river and jacuzzi. The sports facilities are outstanding including recently built golf driving range and putting green, plus quad biking, tennis, football and gym amongst others. Six kilometres away is the busy town of Le Bugue.
Les Peneyrals at Salignac, Dordogne
Les Peneyrals is superbly positioned just a short drive from the Dordogne valley. A friendly, family-run park with helpful owners who are always on hand. The high quality facilities include a wonderful pool complex with three swimming pools, water-slides and a heated children's pool. Best of all, everything is kept absolutely immaculate. Surrounded by lush green countryside the park enjoys plenty of shade from established trees and even has its own charming little lake, which is a popular spot for fishing. The owners arrange a variety of traditional entertainment throughout the season too, including live bands and weekly discos in high season. And as well as all the other attractions of the Dordogne, both Salignac and Sarlat are just a short drive away.
Le Vieux Port at Messanges, Gascony
Situated right on the Atlantic coast, and awarded the prestigious La Clef Verte award, Le Vieux Port enjoys direct access to a long, sandy beach, backed by sand dunes, which shelves steeply into the lively waves. There's also a splendid adventure playground, tennis, table tennis, and all sorts of games and sports events during the busy summer months, when the atmosphere is extremely lively. You'll find that the park's own grill restaurant makes the ideal place to eat too, when you're not at the weekly barbecue, or occasional disco held in high season. Delightful Bordeaux and bustling Bayonne are also both within easy reach by car.
Camping Atlantique Parc at La Palmyre, Royan
Situated in 42 acres of natural landscaped grounds, this parc is ideal for a fun family holiday. With swimming pools, mini farm and playground, there is plenty to keep the young ones entertained. The delightful bar and restaurant overlook a well equipped and spacious play area and the quaint town of Biscarosse with its bars, shops and nightlife only a short drive away. If you're bringing a boat, the small port will moor it for a small fee for the duration of your stay.
Soleil Plage at Vitrac, Dordogne
Soleil Plage enjoys a superb setting that is perfect for a family holiday, lying on the banks of the gently flowing Dordogne. It has two small beaches, both situated on one of the loveliest stretches of the river, which are favourite spots for both swimming and canoeing. Sarlat is only a short drive from the park and the beautiful riverside towns of La Roque-Gageac and Beynac are both accessible by road or river.
Le Moulin de Paulhiac at Daglan, Dordogne
The facilities at this park are very modern, including a fabulous pool complex with three slides, covered pool, impeccable wash blocks and an excellent take-away and restaurant. Le Moulin de Paulhiac has a beautifully restored watermill that welcomes you at the entrance and is a rural park with large grassy pitches set amidst the dappled shade of walnut, oak and apple trees. The owners also organise activities in high season, which include popular canoe trips. This is the real heart of the Dordogne too, with rolling wooded hillsides, sleepy, honey-coloured villages, crumbling old farmhouses and castles galore to discover.
Le Port de Limeuil at Limeuil, Dordogne
When you're seeking a really quiet and relaxing holiday, you'll find Le Port de Limeuil very much to your taste. It's a green and attractive little park, boasting countless trees and shrubs, as well as a swimming pool, children's pool and jacuzzi, not to mention lots of open space for children to play. Located at the meeting place of the Dordogne and Vezere rivers, it also gives you direct access to a riverside beach, where you can hire a canoe, swim or simply sunbathe the day away. It is just a fifteen minute walk or cycle to the fine sandy beaches of this area, and water sports facilities are widely available. Whilst there is plenty to do at this well-maintained campsite, the Les Landes forest is perfect for cyclists. Campsite rules are strictly enforced for the benefit and comfort of all guests. The facilities on this park are second to none, especially the superb aquatic area with its three pools, lazy river and triple waterslide. About 900m away, you can learn to surf and body board in the spectacular Atlantic waves. There are dozens of activities for kids of all ages, as well as entertainment, cantered around the bar-restaurant every night in high season, with the promise that all will be quiet after midnight. And the park owner is keen for all rules to be respected for the benefit and comfort of all guests. Beyond the park, Labenne offers endless forest roads and cycle paths; while the town itself has a splendid outdoor market, two petting zoos, as well as the lovely Marais d'Orx nature park.
Le Val d'Ussel at Proissans, Dordogne
Le Val d?Ussel is an impressive natural parc situated in the heart of the Dordgone P?rigord countryside. The park has a superb heated swimming complex that includes a family swimming pool, waterfalls, a toddler pool as well as plenty of room for everyone to relax poolside. Other facilities at Le Val d'Ussel include a multi-sports pitch (for basketball, handball, volleyball and more), a restaurant, bar and small shop.
