Kick off your flip-flops and dip your toes into the Dordogne River, or float around the heated swimming pool and gaze up at Beynac?s hill-top ch?teau. Or if you want to explore authentic Europe then the medieval town of Beynac, with its inviting bakeries and authentic restaurants along the narrow streets, is only a short stroll away. The atmosphere at Le Capeyrou is civilised and tranquil; the setting of the large spacious pitches, surrounded by hedgerows, is picturesque and relaxing. But there is lots of fun to be had to. You can fire some darts or have a game of snooker in the site?s friendly bar or take a canoe or boat trip out on the river.
Sylvamar at Labenne Ocean, Gascony
Camping Sylvamar is part of the Yelloh! Village chain of campsites. The excellent facilities, located away from our accommodation, include a lagoon style watermark complete with waterslides and lazy river, overlooked by the modern restaurant and bar terrace. It is just a fifteen minute walk or cycle to the fine sandy beaches of this area, and water sports facilities are widely available. Whilst there is plenty to do at this well-maintained campsite, the Les Landes forest is perfect for cyclists. Campsite rules are strictly enforced for the benefit and comfort of all guests. The facilities on this park are second to none, especially the superb aquatic area with its three pools, lazy river and triple waterslide. About 900m away, you can learn to surf and body board in the spectacular Atlantic waves. There are dozens of activities for kids of all ages, as well as entertainment, cantered around the bar-restaurant every night in high season, with the promise that all will be quiet after midnight. And the park owner is keen for all rules to be respected for the benefit and comfort of all guests. Beyond the park, Labenne offers endless forest roads and cycle paths; while the town itself has a splendid outdoor market, two petting zoos, as well as the lovely Marais d'Orx nature park.
Camping Interlude at Ile de Re, Royan
Camping Interlude is a pleasant and relaxing campsite, with sandy pitches under cooling shady pines. This is a superb location for young families, with a glorious beach right on your doorstep. You will find mile upon mile of gently shelving shore that is ideal for swimming, windsurfing or for family beach games and picnics. Back on site, there is a combined indoor/outdoor pool close to the modern restaurant and bar area. You can limber up in the gymnasium or relax in the sauna at the brand new beauty centre. The Ile de Re is very flat and there are a variety of interesting cycle tracks to enjoy (bicycles can be hired on site). This idyllic island is the perfect place to slowly unwind and relax.
Saint Avit Loisirs at Le Bugue, Dordogne
Set in beautiful woodland with fabulous views of the Dordogne countryside, St Avit Loisirs is one of the premier parks in the region and holds 5 red tents from the Michelin guide. The buildings are of beautiful honey-coloured stone where you'll find a shop, bar with a large terrace overlooking the pool and a restaurant serving local specialities. The modern facilities include a swimming pool complex, tropical-style indoor pool, crazy river and jacuzzi. The sports facilities are outstanding including recently built golf driving range and putting green, plus quad biking, tennis, football and gym amongst others. Six kilometres away is the busy town of Le Bugue.
Le Moulin de Paulhiac at Daglan, Dordogne
The facilities at this park are very modern, including a fabulous pool complex with three slides, covered pool, impeccable wash blocks and an excellent take-away and restaurant. Le Moulin de Paulhiac has a beautifully restored watermill that welcomes you at the entrance and is a rural park with large grassy pitches set amidst the dappled shade of walnut, oak and apple trees. The owners also organise activities in high season, which include popular canoe trips. This is the real heart of the Dordogne too, with rolling wooded hillsides, sleepy, honey-coloured villages, crumbling old farmhouses and castles galore to discover.
Ciboure at Ciboure, Gascony
Sheltered in the calmer waters of the St Jean de Luz bay, the water sports and activities here are a degree or two more chilled out than at the larger resorts to the north. Ciboure offers all the exhilaration for those who like to take the air, or even take to the waters, in relative peace and tranquillity. On land the accent is on quiet enjoyment, Ciboure is calm compared to its busy fishing port neighbour of Saint Jean-de-Luz, but there is still plenty to keep you busy. You're not too far from the Spanish border, with the beautiful Pyrenees rising in the south.

Soleil Plage at Vitrac, Dordogne
Soleil Plage enjoys a superb setting that is perfect for a family holiday, lying on the banks of the gently flowing Dordogne. It has two small beaches, both situated on one of the loveliest stretches of the river, which are favourite spots for both swimming and canoeing. The park itself offers you an excellent heated pool complex, with waterslides for the children and a Jacuzzi for you to laze in. And at the end of the day, you'll find that the excellent restaurant, which is just one of the amenities housed in converted Parigordin farm buildings, makes for a wonderful evening. You are also perfectly situated for visiting the famous sights here. Sarlat is only a short drive from the park and the beautiful riverside towns of La Roque-Gageac and Beynac are both accessible by road or river.
La Palombiere at Sarlat, Dordogne
This well maintained park is set in rolling hills in unspoilt countryside this is a highly rated park by visitors. The shop, bar and restaurant are converted form lovely old farm buildings. The pretty bar terrace overlooks the swimming pool area, waterslides, tennis court, and spacious play area. Much of the accommodation can be found on pitches shaded by mature oak trees.

Surrounded by lush green countryside the park enjoys plenty of shade from established trees and even has its own charming little lake, which is a popular spot for fishing. And as well as all the other attractions of the Dordogne, both Salignac and Sarlat are just a short drive away.
