Esterel at St Raphael, Cote d'Azur
This first rate, steeply terraced park with its ochre buildings blends into the scenery so well that when you first set eyes on the glorious swimming pools, they create a quite startling contrast. The heated, jungle themed children's pool is not to be missed. Esterel really is a perfect holiday location, with an excellent restaurant and disco on the park and a night club and golf courses close by. The Esterel hills, with their wooded slopes and pink outcrops, are also truly breathtaking. It's an ideal spot for nature lovers, with many superb walks, from gentle strolls to robust hikes. For more sophisticated pleasures, you are also just a couple of miles drive through a wooded valley to Agay, with its pavement cafes and sandy beach.

The Park name means 'the Bay of Angels' and it lives up to its name with this seaside parc being surrounded by 25 acres of pine trees and olive groves countryside and being just 3 km from Lecques beach. The holiday park has a water park with mushroom sprinklers and a double slide and paddling pool. There are lots of food options on the parc including a bar, restaurant, pizzeria and a cake shop. Les Menhirs at Carnac Plage, Brittany
The ideal choice for a family beach holiday with the bustling seaside resort of Carnac Plage within a 5 minute stroll. This park offers a well equipped pool complex with an indoor and heated outdoor pool; jacuzzi; 2 waterslides and small slides for the little ones. If that is not enough there are multiple playgrounds with trampolines and go-karts; mini golf; tennis and table tennis and also archery (open from 1st May). The restaurant offers meals for those days when you do not want to cook or alternatively try the pizzeria. On site is a supermarket and separate bakery offering freshly baked bread daily. There is a weekly coach excursion to Disneyland Resort Paris, but it is about an hour's drive if you prefer to go in your own time. Compiegne is 15 miles away and Soissons is 11 miles; the sleepy village of Pierrefonds with a fairytale castle is only 9 miles away.
Camping de I' Atlantique at Fouesnant, Brittany
The bar and terrace at Camping de l'Atlantique overlook the pools allowing you to keep an eye on the youngsters as they whiz down the slides. The lively bar hosts a variety of entertainment in high season, including karaoke, magic shows and a weekly disco. Young children have a great time on site, exploring the fishing boat in the play area, or playing mini-golf on the Wizard of Oz course. Although lively in high season the site is much quieter in May and June making it ideal for young families. A path leads you through cool pine trees and over dunes to a fine sandy beach.
Le Ruisseau at Biarritz, Gascony
Beside a small lake, this family-run park is just four miles from the elegant town of Biarritz. The Pyrenees form a magnificent backdrop to this park, which has terraced hillside pitches set amongst oak trees. A great water complex includes a four-lane waterslide, as well as a covered pool across the road in a newer part of the campsite. There is also a spa, gym, sun bed and sauna. If you head to the beach then you will find it is great for body boarding and surfing. Of course you are also on the doorstep of Spain and Pyrernees for great days out.
L'Etang de la Breche at Saumur, Loire Valley
The first thing that will strike you about this superb parc is the wonderful space and openness of the grounds. There are simply acres and acres for you to relax in and for the children to run off their spare energy. The facilities are excellent, including an impressive pool complex with waterslides and a separate toddler pool. The family proprietors are your hosts in the attractive bar and restaurant, and their personal approach is much in evidence throughout. The location is ideal for exploring, with l'Etang de la Breche nearby as well as many outstanding chateaux.
La Baume at Frejus, Cote d'Azur
This park is defiantly for you if you enjoy activities as there is so much to do there will be little time for sitting and relaxing. There are however 2 bars and a restaurant as well as plenty of space to sit around the pool if you want a break from all the excitement. The children have a play area; club with organised activities and even their own disco. Park run sports tournaments; basketball; badminton; climbing wall and archery will give the older children something to think about and a 16+ disco just for good measure. There are family discos during July and August. Sightseeing has not been left from the list of things connected with this busy park with Cannes only 16 miles; St Tropez 22 miles and Nice 40 miles.
Camping Interlude at Ile de Re, Royan
Camping Interlude is a pleasant and relaxing campsite, with sandy pitches under cooling shady pines. This is a superb location for young families, with a glorious beach right on your doorstep. You will find mile upon mile of gently shelving shore that is ideal for swimming, windsurfing or for family beach games and picnics. Back on site, there is a combined indoor/outdoor pool close to the modern restaurant and bar area. You can limber up in the gymnasium or relax in the sauna at the brand new beauty centre. The Ile de Re is very flat and there are a variety of interesting cycle tracks to enjoy (bicycles can be hired on site). This idyllic island is the perfect place to slowly unwind and relax.
Chateau de Drancourt at St Valery, Picardy
Ideally placed for the Channel ports, this 'Castels' park enjoys a picturesque location in the gardens of Chateau de Drancourt, with many facilities that make it ideal for a great family holiday. Children will love the play areas and the three pools, one of which is covered, while the golf range is popular with absolutely everyone. There are also some beautifully converted stables, which provide a focal point for many other activities. The owners have created a great family atmosphere too, which you can sample at the cosy restaurant, in the bar of the main Chateau, or at the lively karaoke nights held in high summer. The local area offers a wealth of day trips too, with the medieval port of St. Valery just a few kilometres away.
